Sam: "Go fishing and work on bicycles."


Humans of Galveston: How old are you, Sam?

Sam: "I’m 80."


Humans of Galveston: Galveston has changed a lot, especially since Hurricane Ike. Has the change been for the better or worse?

Sam: "Worse."


Humans of Galveston: In what way?

Sam: "Everything’s gone up since (Hurricane) Ike. You used to be able rent a house for $300-$400 … now it’s $700 and $800."


Humans of Galveston: What advice do you have for a young person?

Sam: "Take care of yourself and don’t fool with drugs."
