Step inside one of Galveston’s grandest treasures

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to join a media tour of the island’s Bishop’s Palace. From its soaring towers and intricate woodwork to the remarkable craftsmanship found in every room, the historic home is breathtaking inside and out.

The palace has been part of island for over a century. It was built in the late 1800s for Walter and Josephine Gresham and their family and designed by famed Galveston architect Nicholas Clayton. The Catholic Diocese bought the home in 1921, and that’s when folks began calling it Bishop’s Palace. More than 130 years later, it’s still one of the Island’s great treasures.

I’m still in awe of its grandeur and timeless beauty, and blessed to get to live on this beautiful little island.
