Ten years of stories. Ten years of listening.

What began as a simple idea — talk to strangers, ask a few questions, capture a moment — turned into a front-row seat to the soul of Galveston. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of meeting people from all walks of life, each bringing their own rhythm, perspective, and story to this island we call home.

Since stepping into Humans of Galveston in 2016, the journey has been deeper than I ever imagined. From quiet conversations to unexpected confessions, people opened up to a complete stranger with a camera and trusted me with pieces of their lives. Artists, fishermen, educators, musicians, old-timers, newcomers, and everyone in between. Cool, quirky, thoughtful humans who are Galveston.

What started on Facebook grew into something more — a space to slow down, look closer, and celebrate the people who are the heartbeat of the island. This website became a home for those stories, a living archive of voices that might otherwise go unheard.

Ten years in, the mission remains the same: people first. Always. I’m grateful for every conversation and every moment shared. Here’s to the stories still waiting to be told.
