She’s not originally from the island, but Mya Page has been soaking up the Galveston vibe for a few years now — and she’s all in. From the mix of people to the laid-back energy, she’s found her spot. Mya's all about keeping it real, staying true to herself, and surrounding herself with good, genuine folks. We caught up with her to talk about island life, what she hopes to bring to the world, and a little something you probably didn’t know about her.

Humans of Galveston: Tell us a little about yourself.
Mya: My name is Mya Page. I'm not from the island, but I've been out here for a few years, and I love how diverse it is out here. My biggest thing is genuineness, and I feel like you should surround yourself with genuine people. There's so many different types of people on the island, and it's a great place. I definitely think that the island is a family place. It's a party place. It's a great place to be for anybody. I love it out here.
Humans of Galveston: What do you want your contribution to the world to be?
Mya: Like I said, genuineness. I'm huge on genuineness. It's what I live by. You know what I mean? Being real. Everything that you go by should be honest and not sugarcoating. You know, people respect honesty. People respect genuineness. A relationship is more rewarding when it's based on being authentic and genuine.
Humans of Galveston: What is something that people may not know about you?
Mya: I'm big on psychology, so I like to get into people's heads. I like to know how people think, you know, why they think that way. I want to be an inspiration to the people that look up to me, you know? So that's my biggest fear – not being the best I can be for the people that look up to me.
