I met a guy standing on top of a trash can at 25th & Market… so naturally, I had to stop.

“Man, I’m gonna ask you a few questions.”

“I got you.”

Name?

“David.”

Where you from?

“League City.”

And what brings you… up there?

“It just looked like a good place to stand. I can direct traffic, see everything—cool cars, cool bikes… meet people, scream at people. You know… live a little.”

Then he hit me with this:

“If you’re not having fun in life, you’re not doing life correctly. A boring life gives you a boring story. Go have fun. Break the rules—well… maybe not that part—but have fun.”

Before I left, he added:

“If you’re in Galveston, hit The Strand. Hit Buckshot. Bring your people. Make it a good time.”

And just like that, from the top of a trash can, perspective.
